THE SECURITY INDUSTRY AUTHORITY (SIA)

SIA is the organisation responsible for regulating the private security industry in the UK. It is a legal compliance for the security industry to follow the guidelines the SIA set however this is not a level of accreditation. SIA licensing covers manned guarding (including security guarding, door supervision, close protection, cash and valuables in transit, and public space surveillance using CCTV), key holding and vehicle immobilising. Licensing ensures that private security operatives are ‘fit and proper’ persons who are properly trained and qualified to do their job.

SAFECONTRACTOR

Safecontractor was initially developed as a bespoke project for a Property Management client who wished to outsource the annual vetting of contractors on its approved list. Interest shown by other similar clients identified the potential for a standardised system that could be offered to the whole of the company's client base.

In 1999 SupplyLine was born. After further development the product was expanded to provide web based access to its clients and was re-branded as safecontractor in 2003.

Steady growth and the adoption of the system by some major brand names such as Kellogg, Debenhams Retail Plc, Home Retail Group and General Motors UK, saw entry into new client markets and further growth in contractor members.

LIVING WAGE FOUNDATION

Securist is a Recognised Service Provider proudly working together with the Living Wage Foundation, the organisation at the heart of the movement for fair pay.

We are delighted to be recognised for showing leadership on this issue as an organisation with people at its heart and one that is focused on having a positive impact on society. The Living Wage commitment will see Securist offer a Living Wage option for every request for tender. This will mean that even more organisations can consider paying all of their contracted staff a wage that meets the cost of living.  Recognised Service Providers also commit to pay the real Living Wage to all staff working for their core business.

The Living Wage is an hourly rate set independently and updated annually. The Living Wage is calculated according to the basic cost of living in the UK. Employers choose to pay the Living Wage on a voluntary basis. The Living Wage enjoys cross party support.

The London Living Wage is currently £10.55 per hour and covers all boroughs in Greater London. The UK Living Wage for outside of London is currently £9.00 per hour. These figures are calculated annually by the Resolution Foundation, and overseen by the Living Wage Commission.
